CRITICAL THINKING

Welcome to the Awakening With God Devotional for September 8th.

Topic: PROMISE. Key: PONDER.

Message of the day: Critical thinking is essential for effective study and teaching, promoting deeper and more real knowledge.

Based on the biblical verse from 1ST OF THESSALONIANS 5:21 which says: Examine everything; hold fast to what is good.

Teaching: Critically reflecting on what we learn enriches our understanding and allows us to wisely apply eternal principles.

Biblical Experience: The Bereans, listening to Paul, daily examined the Scriptures to verify his teachings, demonstrating a critical fervor that strengthened their faith and spiritual conviction.

Recent Story: Julia, a philosophy teacher, encourages critical thinking among her students. By challenging them to question and verify, he taught them to be independent and spiritually responsible, deepening their creeds in enriching ways.

Prayer: Lord, lead me to think critically about all that I learn and teach, enlarging your truth in my heart and mind.

Action: Practice the art of critical thinking in your daily study, allowing your faith to guide and clarify your new understandings.

Reflection: The ability to critically reflect transforms our perspective, pushing us beyond simple thoughts into a robust and surprisingly rooted faith in truth.

Let's study the following two Bible Concordances in detail to expand on this concept:

PROVERBS 4:7

Wisdom above all; acquire wisdom, and with all your possessions acquire understanding.

PHILIPPIANS 1:9

And this I pray for: that your love may abound even more and more in knowledge and in all understanding.

Spiritual Echo:

Critical thinking in faith is not doubting God but going deeper into His truth to embrace it with greater conviction. Examining everything in the light of Scripture allows us to separate what builds from what misleads, strengthening our spiritual roots. Thus, each reflection becomes a seed of wisdom that leads us to live with purpose. Like the Bereans, learning to question makes us stronger and more aware of what we believe. In this practice of discernment, our faith becomes more solid, authentic, and transformative.

God blesses us today and always.
